GRAHAM GOOCH warmed up for England’s fourth Test against Australia with a sparkling 173 not out for county champions Essex against Somerset. It was the 50th first-class hundred of the opener’s career and secured a seven-wicket win for his side at Taunton. Essex smashed Ian Botham’s first four overs for 41 to get the run-chase off to a flier.
