Social care is at crisis point

SOCIAL care is at “breaking point” due to soaring demand, council chiefs will warn today.

There is a £6billion shortfall as more elderly and disabled need services.

Izzi Seccombe, of the Local Government Association, said: “We cannot duck this issue any longer.”

The LGA will call for a “nationwide public debate” on social care and how to raise funds to pay for it.
