Sick leave at all-time low

THE amount of sick leave we take is the lowest since records began, with the average worker having 4.1 days off ill in 2017 – down from 7.2 in 1993.

The Office for National Statistics data showed absence rates were 1.7% for the private sector, and 2.6% for the public sector.

Health staff working in the public sector had the highest rate of absence due to illness at 3.3%.
