OAP cyclist’s death during charity event
A CYCLIST died after having a cardiac arrest while taking part in the RideLondon event.
Nigel Buchan-Swanson, 69, collapsed near Leith Hill, Surrey, after 56 miles of the 100-mile course.
Mr Buchan-Swanson, of Chichester, West Sussex, had three children and six grandchildren.
His wife Deborah said: “Nigel was a much-loved husband, father and grandfather. He was a very experienced cyclist and died doing something he loved.”
A spokeswoman for the charity event said: “[We] would like to express our sincere condolences to Nigel’s family and friends.”
A marshal at Sunday’s ride was in hospital yesterday after a cyclist hit her at the 75-mile point, in Leatherhead, Surrey.
