Parents’ plea for cannabis to help girl, 2

- BY STEPHEN WHITE

THE parents of a sick toddler are pleading for the right to give their daughter stronger cannabis medication.

They say epileptic twoyear-old Olivia Heary, who is in hospital after a huge seizure, needs the treatment immediately.

The Home Office said cannabis-derived products will only be prescribed by autumn to “patients with exceptional clinical need”.

Olivia, of Preston, Lancs, gets a small dose of cannabis oil but mum Jenna said: “We can’t give her a higher dosage because it is illegal. We could get prosecuted. We need to get the ball rolling straight away.”

They have applied for an emergency licence with doctors prepared to give the medicine if agreed.
