Kids clueless about where apples grow
MANY children are baffled about where the fruit in their lunchbox comes from, a study says.
One in five has no idea that apples grow on trees and one in 10 think melons grow underground.
Six in 10 think grapes grow on trees, while pineapples and kiwi fruits are a mystery to 90%, claimed the research for drinks brand Honest Kids.
But 40% said they would like to visit a farm to see how fruit is grown.
Brand ambassador and mum-of-two Katie Piper, 34, said: “A pick-your-own fruit picnic is a great summer activity to do together as a family.
“And it’s a fun way to re-engage with nature while also learning a little more about where our food comes from.”
