Rail firm ads banned over dodgy claims
NOT SO FAST Express ad WATCHDOGS have banned adverts by two rail firms for making “misleading” claims about fares and journey times.
Thameslink was told to remove posters advertising its Gatwick Express service as “non-stop to Victoria station in half an hour”.
And a Eurostar ad was found to be “misleading” because a significant number of journeys were unavailable at the “from £29 one way” price.
The Advertising Standards Authority found 20.1% of the Gatwick Express services failed to hit the 30-minute promise.
The ASA also found the £29 Eurostar fare “made up a very small percentage” of one-way tickets on the London/Paris route in both directions.
