Thomas Cook has warned annual profits will be lower than expected after UK weather hit takings.

The travel giant said late summer bookings slumped as people stayed home in the heatwave.

Three-month profits from April to June slipped by 3%.

The company admitted it still had about 20% of summer package holidays left to sell, adding: “The weather is something we can’t control.” LOCAL COLOUR Brits stayed home to enjoy Cornish beaches rather than foreign ones
