Ginger ‘beats bad breath’
A DAILY cup of ginger tea could combat bad breath.
Researchers found the chemical behind its spicy flavour triggers an enzyme in saliva which attacks halitosis-causing acids.
Prof Thomas Hofmann, of the Technical University of Munich, said: “Breath smells better as a result.”
Adding the root to food, or brewing it as a tea, may help the 25% who suffer from bad breath.
Key ingredient gingerol could also be added to toothpaste or mouth wash.
