Tory breaks his promise over Grenfell
A VOW made after the Grenfell Tower tragedy has been broken by the Tories, campaigners say.
Housing Secretary James Brokenshire vowed six weeks ago to publish a Green Paper on social housing plans by August.
He told MPs: “It is essential that people living in buildings like Grenfell Tower are not only safe but they feel the state understands their lives.”
But there is now no sign of the plans. Lib Dem MP Wera Hobhouse said it was “insulting to those without a roof over their head”.
Mr Brokenshire told MPs the Green Paper would be “wide-ranging”, but gave no date for it.
