Stop NHS assaults

Thanks for your report on the rising number of attacks on NHS staff and how hospitals have to hire security guards (Mirror, July 28).

It also highlighted how the Government has scrapped NHS Protect which collected data on assaults.

The Department of Health says perpetrators will face the full force of the law, yet it should be doing more to stop the violence. But no chance of that under this Tory Government. Stuart Slinn Chesterfield, Derbys

Surely the recent downpours should preclude United Utilities imposing the planned hosepipe ban? But these rip-off water firms are a law unto themselves. Dick Mayhew Manchester
