As someone whose life was saved by the NHS, I was naturally interested to read about the lifesaving treatment Sir Alex Ferguson received (July 27). He said he hoped to be back at Old Trafford soon, so I’d like to suggest he organises a charity football match there, with the proceeds going to either the hospital which treated him or to the NHS generally. I’m sure this would be popular. Margaret King North West London

There are undoubtedl­y anti-Corbyn and pro-Israelis exploiting the anti-Semitism issue, but it is a mess of the Labour Party’s own making. They have moved too slowly and not far enough in addressing this serious problem.

Whether you can be a friend to an Israeli state with its current policies and be a member of a party that stands against injustice, human rights violations and religious discrimina­tion is another question altogether. Name and address supplied
