TEAM SKY boss Dave Brailsford said he intends to thrash out a new deal for Tour de France champion Geraint Thomas.

Thomas (right) has been with Team Sky since its inception in 2010, mainly living in the shadows of Bradley Wiggins and then Chris Froome before his breakout victory on Sunday.

His new-found status as Grand Tour winner would make him an obvious target for rivals, but Brailsford said: “I am pretty positive this is the best team for Geraint.

“We’ll sit down and thrash out contract negotiations. He is entitled to listen to other options, but I’d like to think we will get it all sorted out.”
