Usage alert tools added to Facebook
TOOLS designed to help Facebook and Instagram users better control the time they spend online have been launched.
People will be able to access a graph showing how long they have been on the online platforms, set up alerts and temporarily disable notifications.
Facebook, which owns both sites, started rolling the tools out to users worldwide yesterday.
UK and Ireland director Steve Hatch said: “We feel a responsibility to help ensure that time on Facebook is time well spent.”
It comes as Facebook faces scrutiny over how it polices content and users.
The NSPCC said the move did not go far enough. It added: “There are still no consistent child safety standards in place.”
