Shock at NHS surgery plan
THE NHS head of GP services says there are “too many” smaller practices, despite closures forcing a million patients to find new doctors.
Dr Arvind Madan, NHS England’s head of primary care, wants them “rationalised” into bigger centres.
Dr Zoe Norris of the BMA’s GPs’ committee was “surprised and disappointed” at this first time an NHS boss has suggested surgery closures are part of a national policy.
