A rail disgrace

This week, I travelled on the old Virgin Stagecoach service which was nationalised by the Tory Government to become LNER.

The atmosphere has changed but the Virgin branding still remains – in spite of a cost to the taxpayer of £2billion for handing back the contract because they couldn’t run the service.

All they want is their snouts in the trough to devour more public subsidies.

Last week, it was announced that in 2016/2017, Stagecoach received subsidised grants worth more than £40million to run bus services.

Branson and Stagecoach still keep their profits and subsidies on Virgin’s West Coast Main Line even though a return ticket from London to Manchester costs more than £200!

Branson even successfully sued the NHS and got £2million for not winning a contract. It’s time we stopped these private profiteers and let the state run our trains, buses and NHS for the people.
