Jack’s just the ticket

- BY IAN MURTAGH

TONY PULIS claims he will never stop his players moving elsewhere to better themselves.

A CROWD of more than 30,000 is predicted for Sunderland’s first game in football’s third tier in more than 30 years when Charlton visit the Stadium of Light today.

Despite back-to-back relegations and appalling home form, season ticket sales have topped 22,000.

Suddenly there is a feelgood factor under new boss Jack Ross (above).

The Scot said: “St Mirren had a dreadful home record when I took over there.

“On match-day, the feelings towards the team were obvious. It was not a nice place to play.

“But things can change very quickly, and we then lost once in 14 months and suddenly people were excited.

“Players felt they wouldn’t get beat, and if I can get them feeling that here, then great.

“That’s the aim, but it won’t be easy.

“However, because there is a freshness here, they’ll go out without a millstone round their necks.”
