Lad has stroke at just 2hrs old
LITTLE Archie James is Britain’s youngest stroke victim – after a seizure just two hours into his life.
Archie was resuscitated at birth after being born unresponsive. The tot was sedated after the stroke two hours later and spent three days on a lifesupport machine. Dad David, 32, said: “My whole world went dark.
“We’d had no complications so to suddenly be faced with the prospect that our son might not live was too much to comprehend.”
Archie is now eight months old and David and wife Emma, of Whitehaven, Cumbria, are raising money for The Sick Children’s Trust.
The charity accommodated the family near the Newcastle hospital where their son was being treated. He said: “Having that private room as a base to come back to every evening was a godsend.”
The previous youngest stroke victim in the UK was 19-month-old Ronnie Kerman, from Hull.
