Fo and go for games
PHIL FODEN was very good for Manchester City against Chelsea in the Community Shield on Sunday and he has a decision to make now.
Should he stay put at the Etihad and risk not getting many Premier League games or should he take a leap of faith and ask to go out on loan to an upwardly mobile top-flight club.
I moved from Crystal Palace to Southend because I was behind Ian Wright and Mark Bright in the pecking order, and I learned more in six months at Roots Hall than in two of the three years I was at Selhurst Park, and I’d learned a lot there too.
But there’s no better education than playing regular first-team football and Foden (above right), with his obvious ability, needs to do that.
It’s time for him to make the leap to become a man.
