Ascot to wait on Dettori

FRANKIE DETTORI is expected to inform organisers today if he is available to line up for the European team in Saturday’s Shergar Cup at Ascot.

Officials fear Dettori (below) may have riding commitments elsewhere but, if able to compete, he will join Andrasch Starke and Per-Anders Graberg in the four-team competition won last year by Great Britain and Ireland. The champions will comprise of last year’s leading cup rider Fran Berry, Adam Kirby and Pat Cosgrave.

The Rest of the World team has Yutaka Take, Corey Brown, who won the Melbourne Cup on Rekindling, and the ‘Magic Man’ Joao Moreira, while the girls’ team features Josephine Gordon, Hayley Turner and Hollie Doyle.
