BEYONCE has spoken of her arduous birth experience with twins Sir and Rumi – and how she has learned to love the way it has changed her body.

The singer, 36, revealed she suffered toxaemia, a type of blood poisoning caused by a local bacterial infection, while she was pregnant. The twins were in so much danger doctors had to carry out an emergency C-section in June last year. Beyonce said she was in “survival mode” after she and the tots spent several weeks in intensive care. She said: “I was 15st 8Ib the day I gave birth to Rumi and Sir. I was swollen from toxaemia and had been on bed rest for over a month. “My health and my babies’ health were in danger, so I had an emergency C-section. “After the C-section, my core felt different. It had been major surgery. Some of your organs are shifted temporarily. I needed time to heal. During my recovery, I gave myself self-love and self-care, and I embraced being curvier. I accepted what my body wanted to be. “To this day my arms, shoulders, breasts, and thighs are fuller. I have a little mommy pouch, and I’m in no rush to get rid of it. I think it’s real.” Beyonce, married to rapper Jay-Z, 48, said she regretted returning to touring so quickly after having their first child, Blue Ivy, in January 2012, so she could lose her baby weight. She told US Vogue: “I believed in the things society said about how my body should look. I put pressure on myself to lose the weight in three months and scheduled a tour to assure I would. That was crazy.” Praising Jay-Z for the way he handled her difficult pregnancy and birth, she added: “My husband was a soldier.”
