25 miles up garden path

-

DRIVERS have to take a 25-mile diversion to avoid a stretch of road a few yards long – so a garden wall can be repaired.

They will be rerouted round Gunnislake in Cornwall while work on Rosemary’s Cottage is carried out over 11 weeks.

Villager Rob Lyneham, 27, said: “It’s crazy. People are going on a diversion that will take up to an hour just so they can fix a wall.”

But Cornwall council insisted the wall is close to collapse and must be fixed “for safety of the public”.
