Police: Hard Brexit risk to law and order
POLICE chiefs have warned a hard Brexit poses a major risk to the public.
They say law enforcement agencies “face a significant loss of operational capacity” if they lose access to EU-wide security powers and databases.
In a letter to Home Secretary Sajid Javid, the Association of Police and Crime Commissioners said: “There are 32 Law Enforcement and National Security Measures that are used on a daily basis.
“Unless the Government is able to negotiate the retention of these measures following the UK’s withdrawal... police and law enforcement agencies face a significant loss of operational capacity.”
