Defib map ‘to be lifesaver’

EVERY public defibrilla­tor is to be mapped in the next year in a move to raise cardiac arrest survival rates.

Many devices’ locations are not known to 999 call handlers, so they cannot guide members of the public to them to help save victims’ lives.

The NHS, British Heart Foundation and Microsoft are involved in the project.

The BHF said: “Thousands more lives could be saved if the public had access to a defibrilla­tor in the majority of cases.”
