SWAN STRIKE AND YOU ARE OUT
Boss gives up on AWOL Ayew
SWANSEA manager Graham Potter has blasted Jordan Ayew for going AWOL – before admitting the on-strike forward is likely to get the move he craves.
Liberty Stadium boss Potter is keen to ensure the Welsh club are not saddled with Ayew after tomorrow’s transfer deadline expires.
He said: “Jordan has not been here, so that tells you he is not part of what we are trying to do, by his own actions.
“It’s really whether we can get a good enough deal for the club – otherwise it’s going to be an interesting time for him.
“We know the situation and we are trying to find a solution.”
Crystal Palace and Fulham are both keen to take Ayew back into the top flight, following his 11 goals in all competitions last season. Swansea want £12million for the Ghana star (above), but won’t sell until that valuation is met.
And Potter admitted he must sell players in order to make any signings before the transfer window shuts.
“There’s an element of that. We need to be careful with what we’re doing,” he added.
“There’s not an unlimited supply of funds, so we have to rely on players going out as part of the restructuring, so that’s a bit frustrating but it’s part of the challenge.”
Ayew has been relegated three times in his last six seasons and survived a fourth one by the skin of his teeth.
The 26-year-old has gone down with French club Sochaux.
He also had a Premier League double demotion, with Aston Villa in 2016 and the Swans three months ago.
