The pair have rejected two bids from Spurs for Grealish, the latest worth £25million, and told the talented midfielder he is going nowhere.

It has dismayed Grealish, whose head had been turned by the lure of the Champions League and working with Mauricio Pochettino’s squad.

Tottenham were also offering a five-year deal, with a major raise on his current £20,000-a-week contract, which has two years left to run.

Grealish is not about to slap in a transfer request. The Championsh­ip club have pledged to give the player a new deal to ease the pain, but Grealish and his camp feel let down.

They still hope a deal can be pushed through before the deadline by appealing to the club’s owners, who they are in contact with.

Grealish told boss Steve Bruce last month he wanted a move to the Premier League.
