DE GEA THE £40M STAYER

MANCHESTER UNITED are confident David De Gea will commit his long-term future to Old Trafford by agreeing a lucrative new contract.

The Spain keeper (right) was a target of Real Madrid, and fans had feared he could be tempted away, with only a year left on his contract. The Bernabeu giants though, signed Chelsea’s Thibaut Courtois for £35million just before the deadline, to ease the pressure on United. Now De Gea is expected to commit to a five-year deal worth in excess of £40m.
