1948: Cricketing great Sir Donald Bradman was out second ball for nought in his final Test match innings. The Australian needed just four runs to finish with a Test average of 100 but, was left with average of 99.94.
1999: A goal from Tommy Mooney gave Premiership new boys Watford a shock 1-0 win at Liverpool. But the Hornets finished bottom of the table and went straight back down.
2012: England bowler Stuart Broad denied any involvement in a parody Kevin Pietersen Twitter account.
2016: Usain Bolt won a third straight Olympic 100m title as he took gold. Max Whitlock became the first British gymnast to win Olympic gold in the men’s floor event. He added a second gold in the pommel horse hours later.
