UTTER RUBBISH
Former England boss Big Sam slams Emery for Gunners’ tactics after opening-day defeat to champions
ARSENAL manager Unai Emery’s tactics have been savaged – just one game into his reign.
Emery saw his bid to compete with Manchester City blown apart as Pep Guardiola’s side ran out easy 2-0 winners at the Emirates.
And Sam Allardyce blamed it on Emery’s insistence on playing out from the back – labelling it “utter rubbish”.
Big Sam insisted: “It’s the manager’s fault. Don’t ask someone to do against Manchester City what you
shouldn’t do. What do City do? Press, press, press... so why do you try to play out? “Even the Arsenal crowd cheered when they dropped one in the opposition’s half!” It was a bitter attack on Arsene Wenger’s successor from ex-England boss Allardyce (right).
He added: “We’re getting obsessed with this stupid ‘let’s play out from the back, split the centre-halfs either side of the 18-yard box and play from there’.
“It’s utter rubbish to play like that all the time.”
