Willian: It was Conte or me
WILLIAN has revealed he would have quit Chelsea had Antonio Conte stayed in charge.
The Brazil winger decided over the summer it was either him or Conte and, asked if he would still be at the Stamford Bridge if the Italian had not been fired, he replied: “No chance. No.
“I’m here because I want to
play for Chelsea. I will only leave if Chelsea want me to go.” Willian last week admitted he found Conte “very difficult to work with” and “his philosophy, his way of dealing with things very complicated”. The tension was clear after the FA Cup Final when Willian posted a celebratory picture with Conte obscured by trophy emojis. He said his daughter was responsible for the edited image, but has made no secret of his dislike of him. Willian, a target for Manchester United and Barcelona, praised Maurizio Sarri: “He tells us to enjoy ourselves on the pitch. This is what we do in Brazil and are trying to do here, playing with skill and movement.”
