Man crushed by tree while securing tent
A CAMPER died after being crushed by a 20ft tree as he set up his tent.
Ryan O’Carroll, 25, suffered fatal injuries as he secured a hammock tent several feet above ground.
His wife Stefanee, who was inside, sustained head injuries. Ryan’s brother Nick, 11, escaped unhurt and flagged down help.
The trio were camping in Tehidy Country Park, near Cambourne, Cambs.
Witness Natalie Jupp, 36, saw Ryan tightening a tent strap on one of the trees it was suspended from.
She said: “As he’s done that, it’s put too much tension on the one in front of their camp and it’s flown at him. It was just awful.”
Ryan, of Southampton, was taken to hospital in the early hours Saturday but could not be revived.
