Our photograph shows England cricket all-rounder Ian Botham as he scores a century in 86 balls against Australia at Old Trafford. He went on to score 118 and hit six sixes during his innings. England had gone 1-0 down after two tests resulting in Botham losing the captaincy, but he continued to play under Mike Brearley. In what came to be known as Botham’s Ashes, he ended up scoring 399 runs, taking 34 wickets and 12 catches.
