Birthday Brit killed on rocks trying to jump 20ft into sea
A BRITISH tourist who died when he leapt 20ft into the sea and landed on rocks was celebrating his 24th birthday.
Paul Gardner, who had flown from Newcastle to Ibiza on Sunday, had gone with two friends to swim at Cala Gracio cove, San Antonio.
The shocked pair pulled Paul from the water after seeing his fatal plunge on Tuesday. But he had suffered a cardiac arrest and was pronounced dead after a rescue team could not revive him with CPR. The friends were said to be “medicated” yesterday and had not returned to their holiday apartment. Paul is believed to have struck the rocks during a misjudged attempt to leap into deep water. Among social media tributes yesterday, one friend told his mum Carla Hunter: “Absolutely devastating. He was one in a million. A good lad.”
