DNA the key to shift blues
SCIENTISTS have discovered a genetic link that could make some shift workers more vulnerable to depression than others.
Disrupting the “circadian rhythm” or body clock can cause mood disorders.
But a Glasgow University team studied data on 71,500 people and found two genes may be the key.
Psychiatrist Prof Daniel Smith, said: “It means certain individuals may be more prone to the effects of modern 24/7 lifestyles and others more resilient.”
