UKIP chiefs join anti-Semitism row
UKIP bosses have been called on to accept the globally recognised definition of anti-Semitism.
Pat Bryant, a National Executive Committee member, made the plea, but Elizabeth Jones, also on the NEC, wrote in a leaked email: “No way. We are the party of free speech.” UKIP leader Gerard Batten said the issue was covered by the party’s existing rules on discrimination.
Labour’s John McDonnell warned MPs not to use the anti-Semitism crisis to justify forming a new, centrist party after Chuka Umunna said they were being “pushed to breaking point”.
