Cow attacks dog walker, 70, at beauty spot
A WOMAN in her 70s suffered broken bones and puncture wounds when a cow attacked her at a New Forest beauty spot.
She was walking her blind rescue dog when she accidentally got between a horned heifer and its day-old calf.
The cow knocked her to the ground before trampling her and stabbing her with its horns at Bolton’s Bench in Lyndhurst, Hants. Cyclist David Pearson rushed to her aid and she went to Southampton General Hospital.
The pensioner had surgery the next day to put pins and plates in her arm. She also suffered a large haematoma on her hip, lacerations and broken ribs.
It was the second cow attack in the New Forest in the past month, after another elderly woman was put in hospital in July.
