Young Jack and Bobby Charlton are mobbed by fans as they attend a reception in their home town of Ashington, Northumber­land, to honour England’s 1966 World Cup victory. Born into a footballin­g family in the small mining town, the brothers were second cousins of legendary Newcastle and England footballer Jackie Milburn. Jack, the eldest by two years, nearly missed out on a football career when he decided to join his father working down the pit.
