...................... ................ . . . ............. ............. ROY HODGSON has hailed Wilfried Zaha as a player who can do almost everything – and warned the rest of the Premier League that his talismanic winger is determined to get even better.
Zaha, 25, handed Palace a huge boost this week by signing a bumper new £130,000-a-week pay deal that runs until 2023.
And boss Hodgson said: “He’s very, very good. All players have got qualities, of course, and there aren’t many players who can literally do every single thing, but he scores top marks in so many aspects of the game.
“And when it comes to dribbling and manipulating the ball and going past opponents I put him up there with the very best.”
Zaha was crucial to Palace’s successful bid to beat the drop last season, answering critics who questioned his ability to turn talent into goals by scoring or setting up an impressive 28 strikes over the last two full seasons.
Hodgson added: “We’ve made it clear to him that we were grateful, of course, for what he did last season. He did so much for us with his goals and his assists and the way he played. “And we have tried to make it clear to him that we need a lot more of that going forward. “Also, that he is telling himself that he can do even more when it comes to actually scoring and assisting with our goal record this season. And we encourage him in that regard as well.”
