Celebs muck in
HAILED by some as TV’s most notorious reality show, this “Ronseal” format is back on our screens 14 years after The Farm made its mark. And what a mighty mark it was.
You might not remember the original incarnation for much more than THAT scene with David Beckham’s alleged lover Rebecca Loos and a pig. But perhaps it’s best not to dwell on that.
The show was axed after its second run in 2005. So this is one of those “watch while half hiding behind a cushion” reboots for fear of what we might see.
On every week day for a fortnight, the show welcomes eight city-dwelling celebrities, aka people who have appeared on other reality shows, to spend time working on a farm and face being voted off.
The idea is that we laugh hysterically while a townie gets their stiletto stuck in a cow pat or is forced to stick their hand somewhere the sun doesn’t shine.
Taking part are TOWIE’s Bobby Norris, country singer Megan McKenna, dancer Louie Spence, Gogglebox’s Sandi Bogle, ex-Strictly pro Gleb Savchenko, glamour girl Charlotte Dawson, actress Lorraine Chase and British judo champ Ashley McKenzie.
Farmer Chris Jeffery is the voice of reason. “I’m very sorry to tell you, but I have no idea who the hell you are,” he says, articulating what we are all thinking.
In tonight’s first episode they are tasked with simply finding their way around the farm. For the winners, prosecco. But it’s mucking out the farmyard for the losers.
