Footy a good job for girls

THE majority of parents would be happy for their daughter to try for a career in football, a survey shows.

A quarter said they’d “actively encourage” their girl to play and 60% said they’d like them to pursue a career in the game.

The study, by energy firm SSE, found more than 60% disagreed football is for boys, with team work, fitness and self-confidence seen as benefits for girls.
