Palace in rage as Salah tumbles to win controversial penalty and set Reds on course for vital victory
MO SALAH was at the centre of a cheat storm as Liverpool made it two league wins out of two against 10-man Crystal Palace.
Reds star Salah infuriated the Eagles players and fans after winning a controversial first-half penalty. Salah – criticised by boss
Jurgen Klopp after being booked for taking a tumble at Chelsea in May – fell to the ground just before halftime, under pressure from defender Mamadou Sakho.
Referee Michael Oliver awarded the penalty, but the Egyptian’s delayed fall following minimal contact sparked Palace fury. Sakho, plus team-mates Christian Benteke and Patrick Van Aanholt, all confronted Salah, before James Milner converted from the spot.
Palace had young right-back Aaron Wan-Bissaka sent off in the 75th minute, before Sadio Mane clinched the points late on.
Liverpool’s Virgil Van Dijk said: “I don’t think the big teams ever win here comfortably. I’m happy with a clean sheet. I think it was a welldeserved three points.”
