2015: The Mirror reveals how commercial puppy farmers get £1.4million in EU grants.

January 2016: Mirror tells how secretive puppy farmers are, refusing to let in press. November 2016: Ban on third-party puppy sales

March 2017: Campaigner­s devastated when proposed ban dropped after lobbying by

Dogs Trust. It said ban should not be “rushed into” due to shortage of puppies for sale.

December 2017: Campaign launched in Parliament by

Marc Abraham, The Mirror’s Andrew Penman and others. March 2018: Petition gets 100,000 signatures in 3 days. May: Law debated in House.

May: Dogs Trust again lobbies MPs to delay a ban. July: Law gets cross-party backing at Welsh Assembly. August 21: Ban announced.
