Too arty for traditional film
DANNY Boyle was an inspired choice to direct Bond 25 – a proud Brit with an international, Oscar-winning pedigree.
After the sumptuous sprawl of the last film, Spectre, his effervescent style would have shaken things up perfectly.
But, although he was worked with massive stars such as Leonardo DiCaprio, his track record is in smaller films and he lacks experience on epic productions such as Bond.
Plus, Boyle loves to call the creative shots, which isn’t possible when producers Barbara Broccoli and Michael G Wilson reign supreme.
While outlandish in story, Bond films are simple in form, whereas Boyle loves to play with colour, montage and music.
Presumably, the director had creative ideas that were too extreme for the 007 producers’ more traditional tastes.
