Sick Superdrug turns Botoxic

-

Come on, Superdrug. What on earth are you playing at, cashing in on young women’s fears of falling short of physical perfection? The news the high street brand – which deliberately markets to teenage girls – is to start selling Botox and lip fillers at £99 a pop is the brazen pursuit of profit above ethics.

The proviso that you must be over 25 to purchase these invasive procedures is nowhere near enough to pretend this is remotely responsible.

Superdrug’s aisles are filled with strawberry-scented lip balm, glittery bath bombs, and all the little luxuries pre-teen and teenage girls adore.

But now, next to the face masks and turquoise nail varnish, Botox and fillers are set to be normalised as casual beauty treatments. What better way of turning today’s children into tomorrow’s captive market, boosting Superdrug’s profits at the expense of young women’s self-esteem? A big high street name can, and should, do far better.
