TIGERS FRAIZ THEIR GAME

-

Rotherham 2 Hull 3

WORLD Cup winger Jackson Irvine jolted Hull’s season into life as they chalked up their first league win.

Boss Nigel Adkins had questioned how much longer he would be in the job given Hull’s dreadful start to the season. But he will feel slightly more secure after two goals from Aussie international Irvine gave them a platform for victory.

Hull took control from the start and almost scored twice before gifting Rotherham a 16th-minute goal. Awful marking at a corner meant Richard Wood did not have to leave the ground to head past keeper David Marshall,

Two players pulling the strings for Hull were involved in their 28th-minute equaliser as Evandro’s cross was met by a slick half-volley from Irvine (above).

Tigers added a second in stoppage time at the end of the half when Fraizer Campbell turned in Eric Lichaj’s cross.

And a slick link-up between Campbell and Jarrod Bowen set up Irvine for his second goal within 85 seconds of the restart.

Hull lived dangerously in the closing stages, however, after substitute Jamie Proctor narrowed the gap with a header two minutes after going on in the 73rd minute.
