2006: Sprinter Justin Gatlin was banned for up to eight years by the US Anti-Doping Agency, after failing a drugs test for the second time in his career. It was later reduced to a fouryear ban and Gatlin won bronze in the 100 metres at the 2012 Olympics, silver at Rio in 2016, and silver in the same event at the 2013 and 2015 World Championships. He won gold at the 2017 World Championships.
2012: Frankel won his 13th consecutive horse race when he triumphed in the Juddmonte International Stakes at York.
2015: Mo Farah won the 10,000 metres title at the World Championships in Beijing, becoming then the oldest-ever global winner at the event at 32.
