No move for Jan.. until Jan

- BY ADRIAN KAJUMBA

TOTTENHAM’S hopes of offloading Vincent Janssen this month are all but over after he was ruled out for up to three months with a foot injury.

Janssen was forced to have surgery on the problem which had been troubling him since last season when he was on loan at Fenerbahce.

Spurs described the surgery as “minor” but the 24-year-old is still facing an extended spell on the sidelines, meaning he will probably stay in London until January.

The Dutch striker has flopped at Spurs after being signed for £17million in 2016 as Harry Kane’s understudy.

And he was among the players Spurs were keen to move on this summer. That point was hammered home when Janssen was stripped of the No.9 shirt and not given an alternative squad number.

He had been offered to clubs in Turkey but plans to sell him are now set to be shelved for the time being.

Janssen said on Instagram: “The surgery was successful. The next period will be in the light of becoming fit and stronger than ever. I can’t wait to be back on the pitch again.”
