Real go for Hazard one more time

- BY JOHN CROSS

REAL MADRID will make a last push for Eden Hazard before their transfer window closes.

And Chelsea are also facing a battle to keep Marcos Alonso, who is a late target for Atletico Madrid with the Spanish transfer window open until August 31.

Chelsea insist that Hazard is

not for sale at any price this summer.

But that may not deter the Spanish outfit, who are under pressure to make a stellar signing after selling Cristiano Ronaldo to Juventus.

Realistically, Real’s interest is part of a longerterm plan to land Hazard as they want to demonstrate how much they want him and see him as a future Galactico.

Hazard is into the final two years of his contract and unlikely to re-sign until he knows whether Chelsea can get back into the Champions League under Maurizio Sarri.

The Blues are pushing hard for the 27-year-old to sign a new deal and are prepared to offer £300,000 a week to persuade him to stay at Stamford Bridge.

But if he does not sign, Chelsea would almost certainly have to sell him next summer as they did with Thibaut Courtois, who went to the Bernabeu rather than be allowed to run down his contract.

Real’s city rivals Atletico are keen on Madrid-born Alonso because they could lose their current left-back Filipe Luis. The Brazilian defender is a target for Paris Saint-Germain.
