I told Trevor: 40 years ago you’d have been the guy on security

-

Lenny makes plenty of comment on diversity in his new sketches.

One of the lyrics to his rap video is: “This is the TV reflecting society, not much diversity.” He also remembers that he used to be the only black man among the Comic Relief crew when they visited Ethiopia.

“It used to be all white guys and me,” he recalls. “Everyone thought I was from Ethiopia. Now crews are a bit more diverse.” But speaking to Sir Trevor, Lenny says: “Things must have changed because we’re two brothers talking to each other on prime time TV. Forty years ago you’d have been the guy on security, stopping people coming into the BBC. “People like us were not on the telly. “We were occasionally on screen. You never really saw a lot of people of colour. “We’ve still got a long way to go.”
