‘Save pubs by closing them once a week’
PUBS could be saved by shutting one day a week to spread income around and cut costs, drinkers reckon.
The suggestion from the Campaign for Real Ale in Medway, Kent, would mean landlords in an area signing up to a rota and not opening on quiet days.
It would be a copy of a system used in Germany.
Alan Jefferies, of Medway CAMRA, said: “Landlords can choose their ‘closed’ day. This can be adjusted when large events occur like the World Cup.”
